2015 Sorrel Gelding
Playboys Gray Bar x Cromed Our Mercedes
Imacromedoutsurvivor—Jasper to those who knew him best — was born to be a star in the reining world. With every slide stop and spin, he seemed destined for greatness. By the time he was four, Jasper was already our favorite, his shimmering coat and fluid movements catching the eyes of many around us. We were convinced that he had the perfect mix of grit, grace, and charm. The future looked bright.
But just as the stars aligned for his career, the unimaginable happened. At six years old, Jasper was diagnosed with bilateral navicular corrosion — a painful condition that made further competition impossible. His dreams of championships, gold buckles and trophies were cut short. For many horses, that might have been the end of the story. But Jasper is not like most horses.
His bright eyes and unshakable work ethic earned him a new role: a model. Whether posing for Western lifestyle brands, standing still for detailed paintings, or stepping into photo shoots for equine products, Jasper found a second calling. He has become a muse, inspiring art and photography with his regal presence. No one who sees his pictures can tell that this graceful model is retired from the show pen and had once been a warrior of the arena.
Jasper’s good nature also found him another purpose — working as a pony horse for others in need. When rehab is needed for injured horses, Jasper has become the quiet companion who knows what it means to lose something but never give up. With every gentle nudge and calm step, he helps nervous horses heal, guiding them with the same quiet determination he once used in competition.
Though his career didn’t end the way anyone imagined, Jasper’s spirit never wavered. In every photo, in every step alongside a rehabbing horse, there is the heart of a champion. And to those who know his story, Jasper isn't just a retired reiner—he is a survivor.
